Going Out Makeup

Whenever I do my makeup, I usually only spend about 2 minutes on it. I put liquid foundation on the back of my hand, take a blush brush, and lightly sweep it across places where I have pimples or blemishes. Next, I'll take some bronzer to even out my skin. Then I apply eye liner and mascara and that's it. This whole look took me about 5 minutes total though. I wanted to dress up a bit more because I was going over to Boyfriend's house.

First off, yes I know I need to pluck my eyebrows; I did that after I took the pictures. Besides that, here is what each eye looks like. The camera flash is on, so the eye makeup looks a lot lighter than it actually is. I still put liquid foundation on the back of my hand. But instead of applying it to just pimples and blemishes, I took a little pocket blush brush, and applied it under my eyes and all across my eyelid. I don't own an eye shadow base, so the liquid foundation kind of does the same job. I would apply a bit of bronzer all over my face, and under my eyes so they wouldn't be so light from the foundation. Then I used my dual eyeliner stick from NYC- the green and black one and lined the bottom eye in the corner with black, and the top lid with the green. Then I took NYX eye shadow in Rust and just applied it to my lids. Here's the whole look finished...
I look kind of weird in this picture, I needed to sneeze really bad lol. But that's basically the whole look. It takes about 5 minutes to do the whole thing. Don't forget to put moisturizer on before it all though! And be sure to use lots of chapstick to prevent those chapped winter lips!

New Products!

So I purchased a few new products today. It's a very small haul, but I'm loving every purchase..

The three nail polishes that I got is White Out by Orly, Cashmere by NYC, and Pink Promenade by NYC. It's almost officially winter, so I decided to get "snow colors" as I like to call them. And I'm loving this pink because it stands out so much from all the wetness and brown-ness of everything.

These hair products are both from TIGI and I'm absolutely in love with them! They work perfectly for my naturally wavy hair to create that perfect beach wave.

This is by Suave, and it's leave-in conditioner. I've always had a really hard time finding a good leave-in that doesn't make my hair all greasy or chalky. I'll try this one out and see...

And last but not least, my Tresemme hairspray! I would die without this. It's my favorite hairspray ever.

Day 7

Day 7- Your Favorite Animal Day. Baby Sea Otters.

New Room

I'm not for sure if I've mentioned it already or not, but my whole house has had white walls until recently. Last summer we had to re-do part of the drywall pretty much on 2 whole sides of the house. After we were done with them, I convinced my parents that our house could do with a bit more color. So we ended up and painted the Boy's Room a light blue and Mum and Dad's room a very light orange-y/yellow color that looks really pretty when the sun starts rising. My room stayed the same- neon green and ocean blue. I've had my room painted like that for years... I'm not entirely for sure why I picked those colors. I think it was mostly because there was a trend going on with my elementary school friends about having a neon green room. But, after about... 8 years, I think I'm ready to move on. I've been searching around, and I know that I'll never be able to afford it, but this is basically what I want my dream room to look like. Oh, and I have 1 window in my room- a decent sized window- but I'd like for it to be a bit larger so more light would be let into the room and I would actually be able to put drapes on it... I also want to be able to convert my plain white door to this. I tried to find a picture of it on the internet, but there wasn't one. So I had to use the power of Paint...

I'm also loving silver wallpaper- especially metallic..

I've always adored mirror dressers as well. So chic..

I'm not for sure if it would go with the rest of the room or not, but OMG! I love this color and it looks so beautiful and flow-y..

I'm also still deciding on if I would want a headboard or not, and trying to find the perfect black lace curtains. And also how to make my closet bigger! But that's probably something that I'll never be able to solve.

Winter Weather Worries

I love the winter. From lots of layers, fur, fireplaces, smell of burning wood, extra coffee, skiing, and having an excuse to cuddle, it's one of my favorite seasons. One thing I can't stand though? How dry it makes my skin. I just watched a whole episode of Pretty Little Liars which is about 44 minutes without commercials. I spent the ENTIRE time putting on the green tea moisturizer from Proactiv and my face is still dry! Even though it's a travel size bottle (.33 oz.) I shouldn't have to use the whole bottle. I'm giving my face a bit of a rest right now because it feels a bit tingly. The moisturizer was cold and felt extreeemly soothing on my skin though. Any who, I'll probably go back to watching another episode of Pretty Little Liars because it is my new addiction and I'm feeling really lazy today. More bad news- I'm going to have to clean my room in search to find my Cetaphil moisturizer. Hopefully that can do the trick without me having to use the whole can of it...

Day 6

Day 6- Anything Hello Kitty Day.
These are 2 pieces from the Hello Kitty "One of a Kind Kitty Creations". The first dress (silver) is by Miro.I love the detailing of it, the cut, the open back, and of course the color. I'm not for sure if this dress would work for all body types, especially mine (pear), but it sure does look amazing on the mannequin. The second dress is by Zac Posen.Need I say more?

Day 5

Day 5- Your Favorite Thing To Do Day. So far, my absolute favorite thing to do is anything that doesn't involve school. I have never appreciated the ability to relax before so much. When I relax, I usually catch up on watching Pretty Little Liars or Chuck, read a book, go outside, go to Boyfriend's house, or just hang out with friends. Recently though, one of my absolute favorite things to do is to experiment with makeup. Even though I'm still not very knowledgeable about it all, it's still fun to experiment and just play around with all the different possibilities.

Lips and Eyes

I always disliked how when I buy makeup products in a department store, how I can't try them on and see what they really look like.So here are lipsticks and eyeliners and what they look like, and then what they really look like...

1. Clarins in Bordeaux
2. Clarins in Rouge Griotte
3. Revlon in Apricot Fantasy
4. NYC in Fragile Pink
5. NYC in Cafe

CLARINS IN BORDEAUX

CLARINS IN ROUGE GRIOTTE

REVLON IN APRICOT FANTASY

NYC IN GENTLE PINK

NYC IN CAFE

I tried to take pictures of all the different eyeliners, but you couldn't really see the difference between them because I don't have a very good camera. So here's what they look like on paper..

1. E.L.F. in Metallic Olive
2. NYC Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Black
3. NYC Eyeliner Duet in Black
4. NYC Eyeliner Duet in Islands in the Stream
5. NYC Brow/Liner Pencil in Sable
6. Freebie eyeliner pencil in a light brown-ish
7. NYC Eyeliner Pencil in Charcoal
8. NYC Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Smokey Plum
9. E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black
10. Rimmel London Spark It Up! in Tiger's Eye
11. NYC Eyeliner Pencil in Kohl Brown

Mediocre

After going through all my makeup and experimenting with it, I realized that some of the products really aren't that fantastic. I might be using them in the wrong way, but here are some of the products I'm not very satisfied with.
1. L'Oreal Paris The One Sweep Eye Shadow
I now realize that it's meant to be for blue eyes. I didn't know you were supposed to peel off this thing on the back to look at it, but yeah... I have green eyes. I can see why it doesn't work for me now. Although, I will take my own little blush brush and dab it into the brown part and the peach part to create smokey eyes. The thing I'm most disappointed with though is the brush itself. It doesn't pick up very much color, and doesn't blend well together or go on very well. I always end up and just have to create smokey eyes the old fashioned way. Although, the colors are very pretty and I like the concept that they came up with.

2. Maybelline Dream Mousse
This foundation doesn't go onto my skin very well at all. When I try to smooth it on with using my fingers, it flakes onto my skin and doesn't spread out evenly. When I try to use a foundation brush with it, it goes on too thick and doesn't spread evenly at all. When I try a combination of the two, the result still isn't anything near what would be socially acceptable for what a person's skin should look like.

 3. Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Stain in In The Buff
This didn't have very much color in it at all, although it is a beautiful color none the less. I was able to use it twice before it ran out. I would even store it with it pointing down so that the liquid would hopefully run down towards the tip, but that still didn't help. Also, it didn't stain my lips at all. I would apply it and it would look nice, but parts of the felt tip would fall off and lay on my lips and even after I waited for 5 minutes to try to let it dry on, if I did the napkin test, all of the lip stain would come off onto it.

4. NYC Cover Stick in Medium
This product also flakes onto my skin. It doesn't spread evenly at all and rubs off very easily. I don't have dry skin, but this product makes it look like I do. I like the price for this though- less than $5.

The Goods

I've gotten into makeup and fashion a lot more recently. I had all this random makeup here without ever realizing how to use it. Most of it came from my sisters as hand-me-downs or given to me as a present, or I've gone out and bought some. But any who, here's a small tour of where I get ready every morning, and my small collection of makeup. For now...

Here's my little desk. That's a minion I made from Despicable Me in 3-D Art Class in case you're wondering..

On top of my little cart thing I have a cup full of q-tips that I use to put eye shadow on for quick fixes, a cup containing my eye liner pencils, some random brushes and a mirror, Nivea chapstick (best stuff in the world), and Boyfriend's ring. Oh, and finger nail clippers.

In the first drawer, I keep all of my eye shadows..

The three largest pallets are from a company named the Color Workshop. I've had them ever since like the 8th grade, so I highly doubt they still make them anymore. From top left to top right, the pallet with four colors in them is from Revlon called Pink Petals. The gray one right below that is from Rimmel- Night Jewel. The one next to Rimmel is gel eyeliner from E.L.F. which is an olive color. The Pallet next to that with a mirror on it is a freebie from Seventeen Magazine I think. The five pallets under that with four colors arranged vertically are from the Color Institute. The Green one is from L'Oreal called Princess Jade. The smokey eye quad is from Maybelline called the Stylish Smokes. The Quad with 2 pinks, brown, and a purply-ish color is from Covergirl called... it just says eye enhancers. And the one in the bottom row with 3 colors all next to each other with the large brush is from L'Oreal- the One Sweep Eye Shadow in Natural for Blue Eyes.

The second drawer has my face products in it.
The 2 cover sticks are from MAX Factor in Natural and NYC in Medium. The two bottles are from Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation in Natural Ivory and L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation in Natural Beige. The tube that has pink stuff in it? That's from Neutrogena called Shimmer Sheers in the color Rapture. I also have Rimmel London Bronzer in Sun Light, Maybelline Power Powder Foundation in Nude Light 4 and Maybelline Power Powder Blush in Gentle Pink. The thing on the far right end without a cap on it is the Maybelline Dream Mousse and I'm not for sure what shade it is.

The third drawer has my lipsticks, mascara, and fake lashes..

The two fake lashes are from... somewhere and the other is from E.L.F. The three mascaras (tubes laying down) is E.L.F. Waterproof Lengthening Mascara, Maybelline The Falsies Flared Waterproof, and Maybelline Turbo Volum' Express in Waterproof. I also have Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Stain in In the Buff and Rimmel London Royal Gloss in Gourmet.

These are my 5 lipsticks. From left to right they are Clarins in Bordeaux, Clarins in Rouge Griotte, NYC's Fragile Pink, NYC's Cafe, and Revlon in Apricot Fantasy

Reviews

Since I wrote that last post, I realized how long it's been since I've bought any more foundation or blush. Usually I just buy more mascara, eye shadows, or eyeliners because I play up my eyes the most. Lipstick? Forget it. I hardly ever wear it. I figure that the last time that I actually went out and bought some foundation and blush and stuff was probably a couple of years ago. And I buy my stuff at Wal-Mart, so there's not really any way to try their stuff on to see if it looks good on you. the only way I had to test out products was to try on my sister's findings and buy them myself if they worked, hand-me-down makeup from sisters, or just by looking while at the store. I'm wondering if the stuff I have is even right for my skin tone or not and what the other options are. I know that my favorite drug store brand for bronzer is Rimmel, and the sunlight color works very well for me. The Neutrogena liquid foundation in Natural Ivory also works very well, but only because it's winter and my skin is so pale right now. I love the Mineral Powder products, but I'm not sure they're the right products. So, I want to go out and get a few of these products and then do a review on them.

Day 4

Day 4- Your Favorite Foundation Day. I usually don't use foundation very often because I don't really need it most of the time. But whenever I get the occasional break out, I have a whole routine that I go through. After washing my face and putting on moisturizer, I dab a little bit of Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation in 20 Natural Ivory, take a foundation brush, and lightly swab it wherever it's needed. If this foundation doesn't do the trick, I'll use the NYC Cover Stick in medium. I don't really like the NYC stick because it doesn't go on smoothly, doesn't blend, and just makes my skin look weird. But if there's a certain blemish that refuses to get covered up? I put the cover stick just on that one little spot, and then put more Neutrogena on over top of it. If I have to use a lot of this liquid foundation stuff, I'll use Maybelline Mineral Powder in Nude Light 4 very lightly over all my skin just to try to even out my skin tone. Then I'll take Rimmel London Bronzer in 021 Sunlight and put that below my cheekbones. Sometimes I'll use a bit of blush (Maybelline Mineral Powder Blush in Gentle Pink. What I do mostly everyday though is just put on some eyeliner, mascara, and a little bit of bronzer and then head out the door...

Day 3

Day 3- Your Favorite Type of Brush Day. I just now realized that this is probably talking about a makeup brush and not a hairbrush. I must apologize for the previous post that I had done where I did feature a hair brush. That is still my favorite hairbrush to this day- a cheap one from Conair that you can get at Wal-Mart. My favorite type of makeup brush is from the brand Shany. The one I have is a 13-piece set that I just got off of Amazon. The brushes I use most out of this set is the foundation brush that I use for liquid foundation, the blush brush that I use for applying bronzer, and the eye shadow brushes that I use for.. well, the obvious reasons. The hair on the brushes are soft and silky feeling, and they don't come apart or clump together like other brushes I've had. I give them a 5-star review.

Day 2

Day 2- Favorite Bag That You Own Day. I featured this bag in the other Day 2 post, but I still love it. I'll switch out this handbag with another one for a bit, but I still always just go right back to this one. Anyways, I was doing a bit of research on this handbag because I haven't been able to find it anywhere else since I purchased it. I got it at T.J. Maxx for about $35 I think. The tag on the inside clearly says NILA ANTHONY, but when I googled this bag and this brand, nothing came up. After a bit of more intense searching, I finally found my handbag. Only thing is that Google says it's by a brand called Spotted Moth- a brand I've never heard of. But looking at the pictures of it... I've finally found my long lost handbag.
