go sulk and drink hot chocolate

Last week, we didn't have school on Friday because we had a teacher development day, and so the kids had the day off. That was handy because I left for Gatlinburg that day. It's about a 6 or 7 hour drive there, so we didn't get to the hotel until pretty late Friday nite or realllly early Saturday morning, however you want to look at it. We got to do sight seeing and just random things all day Saturday and it was awesome. I got to do some firsts such as swimming in a cami and sweatpants, went to a sauna, and went into a resteraunt where their symbol is a spider (I'm scared to death of spiders by the way and will not do anything involved with them at all). Needless to say, after all the exploring and other things, I was completly worn out by at the earliest 11 p.m., it was crazyily unlike me. And on Sunday morning, we had to wake up at like 5 in the morning so we could have all of our stuff packed and ready, and get all the paper work filled out, ride the tram to the top of the mountain, get our gear and start skiing all before 10. We barely made it. It was only me and 2 other people skiing and one of them was a snowboarder and had never skied before, so we all took one of the lessons. After the class, we went down one of the easiest passes just to get some practice in. We went down it twice and nobody fell down, so we did a harder pass. This one went down the main passage. Now, in Gatlinburg, they have natural mountains and snow, so it was actual mountain skiing, not just a hill or anything, like a legit mountain. So yeah, the main passage is pretty steep and kind of hilly. Now, when I ski, i go for speed and don't know how to slow down. I'll turn and do s-curves so i don't hit people, but besides that, I fly. About halfway down the mountain, there was a huge group of people, obviously beginers which isn't a bad thing, but that means that most can't control where they're going and anything. So, I tried to make a wide curve around them to not hit any, and of course, one girl thought it would be a great idea to turn to her right at that certain moment. I don't know if she saw me, but I'm sure as heck sure that she felt me. I knocked her skis off, my skis off.. probably half way killed her and myself because we both got banged up pretty good. I was asking like a million times if she was ok acting concerned, and in a very ticked off mood and out of anger, she just laid on the ground and just glared at me and was like oh yeah.. I'm perfectly fine. An eye roll would have fit in perfectly with it. It took everything that I had to not tell her, well if she was looking where she was even going and to stay on the bunny slopes where she belonged, we wouldn't even be in this little situation. Next time, look where your going. Not everybody can move far enough away from people like you to make sure nobody gets hurt. Now go dry it up and go sulk inside while drinking hot chocolate and realize that you should think before you put skis on your feet and pointy poles in your hand next time while around people. Needless to say, I was ticked off too. It was probably a good thing that I kept my mouth shut...
